Don’t let cloudy mornings keep you inside — gorgeous late-summer afternoon sunshine can still be enjoyed all over The Pacific Northwest!

One way to get out and truly take in the beauty of Whatcom County or Skagit County is to rent a kayak and head out on the water for a few hours. You’ll get a view of Northwest lakes and mountain scenes that can’t be beat!

Some of the best places for kayaking are Lake Whatcom, Bellingham Bay, Lake Samish, Lake Padden, and in Skagit County, on Sixteen Lake. If you’ve kayaked in other locations that you’d recommend, please leave your reviews in the comments section!

Rain?  What rain?

The gorgeous winter sunshine we’ve been getting here in Whatcom County is a prime opportunity to enjoy the outdoors here in Bellingham, Washington. Though Boulevard Park is often a summer hotspot in the South Hill neighborhood, even a nice winter day is a great excuse to enjoy this easy walk on the Bellingham Bay waterfront.

Because of its water views, Bellingham’s South Hill neighborhood remains one of the most popular places to live in Bellingham. To find Bellingham homes for sale, please take a look at my free Northwest MLS search or give me a call to get started!

Yes, the days are getting colder, but there are still plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the pristine beauty of the Pacific Northwest — all while getting some good exercise and working off those holiday turkey dinners!

Whatcom County has a wide variety of hiking trails and walking paths, from the Interurban Trail (which connects Fairhaven with Larrabee State Park over near Chuckanut), to the path that loops around Lake Padden in the Samish neighborhood, to the easy trail connecting Downtown Bellingham to Boulevard Park in the South Hill area of Bellingham — there are plenty of options to choose from for all fitness levels.

When the Herman family of Lynden first opened its original Woods Coffee shop in 2002, even they couldn’t have dreamed they would grow to nine locations in just a few short years.  Known for their quality coffee, friendly service, comfortable leather seating, and convenient free wi-fi, The Woods Coffee has quickly become a regular stop for Whatcom County residents.  One of our favorite locations sits right in the center of Boulevard Park in the South Hill neighborhood of Bellingham.  With windows situated perfectly for sunset views over Bellingham Bay, this cozy cafe is a perfect place to end the day with a warm beverage in hand.

Some of the Pacific Northwest’s most dazzling sunsets are showcased at Boulevard Park in the South Hill neighborhood–it’s no wonder this sprawling waterfront park is buzzing with activity all summer long.  If you think this view is good–imagine what it’s like out on the sailboat!

Because most of their beautiful homes overlook Bellingham Bay, residents of South Hill enjoy fiery displays like these year-round.  To find a South Hill, Bellingham home that’s just right for you, feel free to use our MLS home search.
