Yes, the days are getting colder, but there are still plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the pristine beauty of the Pacific Northwest — all while getting some good exercise and working off those holiday turkey dinners!

Whatcom County has a wide variety of hiking trails and walking paths, from the Interurban Trail (which connects Fairhaven with Larrabee State Park over near Chuckanut), to the path that loops around Lake Padden in the Samish neighborhood, to the easy trail connecting Downtown Bellingham to Boulevard Park in the South Hill area of Bellingham — there are plenty of options to choose from for all fitness levels.

For a full list of Bellingham trails, check out the City of Bellingham’s Trail Guide — and get out there!

Well, it’s that time of year again in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and San Juan Counties, as Winter gets ready to make its grand arrival. Time to warm up the bones (and wake up the spirit) with a nice cup of Northwest-roasted French Press coffee!

If you consider yourself a die-hard Pacific Northwest coffee lover, and you’ve never tried your coffee French-pressed, I highly recommend you give it a try! There’s nothing like it . . . and there’s nothing like cozying up inside on a blustery, beautiful Western Washington day in November.

It’s hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is right around the corner! If you’re like a lot of people I know here in Bellingham, you’ve been getting progressively busier the closer we get to the holiday season. Though it’s a special time filled with friends and family, it can also be a time where you start to need a quiet place to recharge your batteries.

Let me suggest a favorite Bellingham spot: Whatcom Falls Park off of Lakeway Street. Before you even get out of your car, you’ll hear the rush of water pulling you toward the sandstone bridge. By the time you get to the bridge overlooking the falls, you’ll feel all that stress begin to melt away as you enjoy the quiet woods.

Not bad for a little park in the heart of the City of Bellingham! People who live in the Whatcom Falls neighborhood get to enjoy this peace every day. To find a home in this area, visit our Whatcom Falls page.

Plenty of people are on the Mount Baker Highway today: it’s opening day for Mt. Baker’s ski and snowboard season!

With an unusual amount of snow early on this season, skiers and boarders are thrilled at the chance to hit one of the Pacific Northwest’s best slopes earlier than usual.

Residents of Bellingham‘s Mt. Baker neighborhood have easy access and close proximity to this winter wonderland. To learn more, visit our Mt. Baker page at www.LiveInThePacificNW.com!

leaves

Driving through the Cornwall Park neighborhood on Broadway Street in Bellingham is one of my favorite views during the fall.  These gorgeous trees absolutely cover the grassy park area between Cornwall homes with bright leaves – even covering the road at times.

Yesterday’s blustery weather certainly means most of these leaves have now fallen, but I couldn’t wait to show you this serene fall view!

If you love the idea of living in a charming, park-like neighborhood with lots of green space, the Cornwall Park neighborhood is an ideal place to purchase a home. Feel free to head on over to my Cornwall information page for more about this highly-sought-after neighborhood, or take a look at my free, no-hassle MLS neighborhood search to get started on finding the home of your dreams!

If you live here in Whatcom County and haven’t yet checked out Whatcom Falls Park, you’re really missing out on a gem of a place! From the moment you step out of your car and begin heading to the sandstone bridge overlooking the falls, the rushing sound of water makes the busy Bellingham city streets nearby sound far, far away.

There are many wonderful homes in the Whatcom Falls neighborhood, all just a short walk from this quiet park full of hiking and walking trails. To find out more, contact me for a Free Pacific Northwest Home Buying Guide or check out my Bellingham MLS Search.
